Bergen is a beautiful city in Norway, and there are incredibly fun ways to get the best view of it. Mount Floyen and the Funicular provide the optimal opportunity to guests of hotels in Bergen to get the grand overview of the city. The Funicular is a railway, also known as Floibanen, Fløibanen, or Fløybanen, takes tourists from the base to the top of Mount Floyen, which is about 1050 feet above sea level. It is just one of the Seven Mountains surrounding the city.
Not only will Mount Floyen and the Funicular offer a great view of Bergen; you can also check out incredible views of surrounding islands, as well as walk through the woods, lakes, and mountains at the top along numerous paths. In addition, there is a restaurant at the top of the mountain open daily in the summer, and the kiosk and souvenir shop can be visited year round. The departure station is near the Fish Market, and trains leave every half hour all day long (or more often if necessary). When you finish, visit the nearby fish market and secure a lunch of the freshest seafood.
