Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, which was originally built as a military airfield, has been in use as an international commercial location since 1998, after an expansion. It has two runways and is a hub for both Nowegian Air Shuttle and Scandinavian Airlines. As a main location for travel for individuals staying in hotels in Oslo, it served over 19 million passengers in 2007 and continues to grow, with its prime location near so many tourist destinations, like Narvisen, Spikersuppa Park, and Ullevaal Stadiot.
Actually located 48 kilometers north of Oslo in Ullensaker, Oslo Airport, Gardernmoen is a national hub and accepts flights from 25 domestic destinations, more than half of which are served with jet aircraft. Because Norway is not an EU member, this airport offers the largest duty free shop on the entire continent, as it may still sell goods to all international destinations. International locations include France, Iceland, Germany, the United States, the Czech Republic, Pakistan, and Turkey, just to name a few.
