Hægeland was once a Nordic town in the county of Vest Agder Fylke. On the first day of July in 1896, the municipality of Øvrebø og Hægeland was split into two separate places, namely Øvrebø and Hægeland. On the first day of January in 1964, Hægeland and a large section of Øvrebø were incorporated into a town in Norway called Vennesla. Vennesla is a municipality of the county called Vest Agder. Today, Hægeland is a popular tourist town. Located in the most southern county of Vest Agder, Hægeland is known for its hilly terrain. Walking, hiking, bicycling, and fishing are all popular pastimes in this section of Norway.
The Gulf Stream runs along the coast of Vest Agder, and has helped this area become known as the "Norwegian Riviera". Recreational opportunities abound here, and the nightlife is full of options. Attractions in and around Hægeland that visitors to this area will want to take note of include the Lindesnes Lighthouse, one of the most famous landmarks and visitor attractions of the Vest Agder Fylke. The lighthouse is located at the end of the six mile long Lindesnes Peninsular. Just driving there alongside the Nordsjøen (the North Sea) is an experience in itself, on a road that follows the North Sea coast along the entire length of the country. The Fjords are spectacular and are not to be missed. You can put together an inexpensive vacation by booking accommodation at one of the budget hotels in Hægeland on EasyToBook.com.
