The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, spoke good english (and were gracious about our broken french!), and the front desk staff would not accept tips, saying simply "we hope you will come back for another stay some time"! the breakfasts were quite generous. the hotel was spotlessly clean, and quiet. we really liked the neighbourhood in montmartre, and it was only a 5 minute walk from the closest metro station.
The air conditioning didn't work at all in our first room. we asked to be moved to one which did work. it didn't work properly there (although somewhat better), and the room was smaller (it was the only one they had left). the next day we were told the whole hotel could have air conditioning or heat but not both, and it had been switched to heating. the day after that it started working properly (it seems the first desk attendant was misinformed). we negotiated free breakfasts for the smaller room. the rooms were extremely compact (as is typical of paris hotels) but cozy, and nicely furnished. the price seemed a little steep, but it was clearly in line with comparable hotels in paris, which are far from cheap! we would stay there again.
