Opera National de Paris

An extremely large building, the Opéra National de Paris has an enormous area and a huge stage that can house over 450 artists. This building has a unique eclecticism and a grand exuberance in its decoration. It has often been said that it is one of the symbols of the great Imperial regime. The Opéra National de Paris is an ornate building that is decorated with friezes, columns, and winged figures that always amaze its visitors. There are many statues and embellishments that are set throughout the location. Its richness can be seen inside with the nymphs and cherubs that are placed throughout the setting. The auditorium's central chandelier weighs over six tons. One of the most amazing features is its ceiling which was painted in 1964 by Chagall. Garnier created this Opéra House and stage in the traditional Italian style. It has a very grandiose setting that was inspired by the Grand Theatre in Bordeaux and by the Italian and French villas of the 17th and 18th centuries. The opéra National de Paris is one of the greatest architectural achievements known to France.
