Constructed by the architect Victor Laloux in 1900, the Musée d'Orsay was once a Paris station that ran trains to the south-west of France. It is located across the Louvre on the left river bank of the Seine and has now been renovated to house the Orsay museum. The museum architecture is said to be a major success in industrial renovation and is therefore a must see. The Orsay is also known worldwide for its famous impressionists collections and brings throngs of arts lovers to its wonderful attractions. The Impressionism works here have a great attraction for many reasons. The impressionists such as Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Edgar Manet, Théo Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne painted ordinary life and people right there on the spot in the open air of Paris and are therefore right at home in their environment here. Above all, impressionism is famous for having departed from the tradition of painting "reality" and art lovers come here to appreciate the mystic vision of the geniuses. The Impressionist paintings at the Musée d'Orsay are now widely acclaimed as part of the best in art history. They are modern works but also widely appreciated by almost every visitor who comes here.
