The Rodríguez Ballón International Airport, also known as Aeropuerto Internacional Rodríguez Ballón is located at the second largest city of Peru. It is a part of the Arequipa tourism program in promoting its city and other nearby towns. Today it is considered as a main hub in the southern region of the country aside from Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport which is found in the town of Cuzco. Before, this airport was only catering flights going to Chile and Bolivia. In 1996, the Rodríguez Ballón International Airport has expanded and is now serving other international flights in addition to the two countries mentioned.
The whole airport has undergone major changes and renovations for the goal of better serving local and foreign passengers. A notable transformation is its newly paved runways. The Rodríguez Ballón International Airport is the entry to the marvelous sights of Arequipa like the amazing ruins of the past and historical churches.
