An example of one of the Arequipa attractions is the Iglesia de La Compañía and complex or the Church of the Company of Jesus Christ. This church can be found in the Southeast corner from the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. The La Compañía is one of the oldest churches in Arequipa and it is an example of a monument in the seventeenth century. The church was completed in 1698 by the Jesuit priest for religious and living purposes.
The Iglesia de La Compañía was designed by Gaspar Baez but was later rebuilt because of the damages it incurred from an earthquake. One of the things to do in Arequipa is to visit the church in order to see the beautiful paintings from the Cuzco School. Around sixty-six paintings can be found inside; the more popular ones are created by renowned artists such as Bernardo Bitti and Diego de la Puente.
