One of the sights of Cuzco that has become extremely popular with the tourists is the Plaza Huacaypata. Cuzco was believed to be built in a shape of a puma, a sacred animal for the Incas and the Plaza Huacaypata is said to represent the heart of the puma. This is where all ceremonial festivities are held and whenever a new territory was conquered by the Incas, the soil of the new territory was brought back and mixed with the soil of Huacaypata.
Visiting the Plaza Huacaypata is one of the things to do in Cuzco. Huacaypata meaning the place of tears is now considered to be one of the most beautiful plazas in South America. The flower beds, park benches, fountain makes it an ideal place to hangout.
