The Sacsayhuamán, also known as Saksaq Waman is one of the Cuzco attractions. It is a walled complex that was constructed and cut so precisely that not even a single sheet of paper can fit in between any two stones. People say that the walls form a fortification and others believe that they form the head of the Puma. The walls lean inward and they contain stones with various interlocking shapes – making them really strong and that's why they are able to withstand several earthquakes in Cuzco.

Sacsayhuamán has become an important part of Cuzco tourism. It is known for its chincanas, a system of underground passages connected to the other Inca ruins in Cuzco. It has become dangerous as people have died after getting lost in the passages. The authorities in Cuzco then blocked the entrance of the chincanas. Every year on June 24, the annual Inca celebration of the winter solstice and new year is held in Sacsayhuamán.
