The National University of San Antonio Abad in Cuzco or UNSAAC is one of the sights of Cuzco, Peru because it is one of the oldest schools in the country. The school was established in March 1, 1692 with the support of then pope, Pope Innocent XII. Pope Innocent XII sponsored the founding and the establishment of the university which was approved and signed in Madrid Spain by King Charles II three months after in June 1, 1692.
UNSAAC is one of the Cuzco attractions because not only is it Cuzco’s principal and oldest university but the public university is also known for producing great Peruvian alumni that includes the President of Peru in 1945-1948 Jose Bustamante y Rivero and Interim President Valentin Paniagua. The university is now authorized to give degrees such as bachelors, licentiate, masters and doctorate degrees and it currently has 24 faculties, 37 professional chairpersons, and 29 academic departments.
