Cuzco is nestled in the southern Sierra mountain range and was once the heart of the Incan empire. When visiting Cuzco, there are a variety of cultural venues and other things to do and see. The Plaza de Armas is the town’s central square and the best place to begin your explorations. Museums are plentiful and include the Museo Municipal de Arte Contemporáneo, located in the Municipal Palace at Plaza Regocijo, the Museo Historico Regional, located in the home of the Inca historian Garcilaso de la Vega and the Museo del Sitio del Qoricancha. The Monumento Pachacuteq is a large statue of an Incan warrior king worth viewing.
