One of things to do in Lima in order to learn about the rich Peruvian history is to visit the Palacio del Congreso de la República del Perú or the House of Congress. The Palacio del Congresio is surrounded by famous plazas. In front of it is Plaza Bolivar and Plaza Victoria can be found at the back. Even though the Palacio de Congresio was built in 1904, the parliamentary life of Peru already existed since their independence in 1821. The structure that stood in the place where the House of Congress is now built was the chapel of the University Mayor of San Marcos.

The House of Congress is so significant in Peruvian history that it has become an important part of the many Lima attractions. Emilio Robert, a French architect was the one who designed the beautiful building. The building was inaugurated in 1908 and was completed many years later, in 1919. The House of Congress is now open to the public.
