Lima attractions would not be complete without the famous La Catedral. In January 18, 1535, the conqueror Francisco Pizarro laid the first stone and carried the first log used in the construction of the Cathedral. The construction was finished in 1622 but an earthquake destroyed it so that’s why it had to be rebuilt in 1746. The style of the beautiful cathedral combines three styles: baroque, renaissance and neoclassic.
A visit to the La Catedral would be one of the things to do in Lima. The church is notable for its baroque altars, the Venetian mosaics and marble, and the choir stalls that are made from wood. But the church is most famous for the remains of Francisco Pizarro that was first brought to the cathedral in 1985. There is also the Museo de Arte Religioso or the Museum of Religious Art that is found in the back part of the church.
