The Museo Amano is owned by a Japanese art collector named Yoshirato Amano. It was built in 1964, housing textiles and ceramics coming from different time periods especially during the Pre Inca days. It is considered to be the best collection of such artifacts in Lima tourism. The Museo Amano also includes some artifacts displaying the Chancay talent for weaving. The tribe of Chancay is found on the coastlines of Peru and it is among the important civilizations in Peruvian history. Adding to the collection are some works of art from the Nasca people.
Although the museum is small, it is one Lima attraction that is worth visiting. Aside from its rare collection, the whole structure makes it one of the best museums in Peru. Since it is considered a private museum, the need for booking in advance is required. The entrance is free but a donation is appreciated. It is now operated by the founder's grandson, Sakane Hiroshi.
