One of the sights of Lima Peru is the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) or Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. This private university was founded in the year 1917 by a Jesuit priest, Father Jorge Dintilhac. The establishment of PUCP during that year makes it the first non-profit private institution of higher learning in the country. The school was labeled as “Pontificia” in 1942 by Pope Pius XII.
