Here you can visit the various volcanoes and mountains in the region, including El Misti Volcano. If you want to climb Chachani, Sabancaya, Ubinas or Mismi, be sure to stay longer than a weekend. El Misti Volcano is worth at least a two-day trip from Arequipa. For those who are interested in rare animal life, the Reserva Nacional Salinas Aguada Blanca, covering 367,000 hectares, has vicuñas. These curious animals are relatives of llamas and alpacas. Whilst in the area you can also visit the Cañon del Colca, possibly the world’s deepest canyon. You can take part in white water rafting and kayaking on the Río Chile, Río Majes and the Río Cotahuasi.
