A national park and shrine located in Quezon City, the Philippines, Quezon Memorial Circle is a favorite place for tourists to visit. The shape of the park, which is bound by the telling Elliptical Road, gives the park its name, and while it is now the home of a monument with a gallery for tourists, it was intended to originally be the grounds for the National Capitol. Because Quezon City did not remain the capital city of the Philippines, all that was ever constructed of the building was a cornerstone. Construction was interrupted by World War II, after which Manila became the capital.

The memorial within Quezon Memorial Circle was commissioned by President Osmeña after the war to celebrate his predecessor, President Manuel Luis Quezon. The monument consists of 3 vertical pylons that represent geographic divisions of the Philippines, with the 66-meter height representing Quezon’s age at death. Amidst the pylons is the drum-like 2-story structure with a gallery for visitors and a catafalque below.
