The city has become a frequently visited destination for tourists due to significant efforts by the local administration. The city is now able to offer several discount hotels in Sopot to visitors who make their way to there each year. Over 42,000 people live in Sopot. The city is actually one of three closely located cities that are referred to together as the Tricity region. The other two cities are Gdansk and Gdynia.
The town is probably most well-known for the annual Song Festival. It is held each year at the Opera Lesina and also on the city’s pier. The Sopot pier is actually the longest wooden pier in Europe, making it an interesting stop on your visit whether you are there during the festival or not. Other sites in town include the lighthouse, the monument to Armia Krajowa, and, of course, the beach.
