Angra do Heroísmo boasts a wealth of historic attractions which have earned the town recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As well as its historic centre, you can visit the town's cathedral, many churches, museum and the Monte Brasil Park. This beautiful Angra do Heroísmo hotel is located right in the middle of the 16th century São Sebastião Fort, also known as the Castelinho, after which the Pousada de São Sebastião is named. The fort was constructed in order to protect the town from the frequent Spanish invasions and raids by English privateers like the famous Sir Francis Drake. In fact, the fort's slanting walls are a unique example of Renaissance military architecture and are one reasons that UNESCO awarded Angra do Heroísmo World Heritage Site status. As well as having a look around the fort and enjoying the stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean, guests at the Pousada de Angra do Heroísmo Hotel São Sebastião can enjoy gourmet cuisine at the Castelinho Restaurant or a drink at the Porto de Pipas bar and café, located in the Governor's house. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and a children's pool too. The hotel also offers wireless Internet access in the meeting rooms and in the public areas.
