The greater Lisbon Metropolitan Region is located on the southwestern coast of Portugal along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean on the mouth of the Tagus River. The region also includes the capital city of Lisbon within its area. The whole country’s seat of government and administrations is within the region also. The city is the western-most capital of mainland Europe and an impressive fact to consider about Lisbon is that it has been the capital city of Portugal since the 11th century. This gives a visitor almost 10 centuries worth of history to explore. The area can boast about its climate, the winter temperatures have spring values and the summers are continuously freshened by breezes blowing in from the Atlantic. Costa de Lisboa is a rich and impressively diverse section of Portugal well worth a long visit.
