It is the train station to seek out if you are planning to get away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Lisbon also has some really nice coastlines in its surroundings, and taking a day trip to the sandy beaches of Cascais, the Estoril Casino and the Costa da Caparica is quite easy and fun. Starting out close to Lisbon’s downtown at Cais do Sodré, the train goes through Belém area and straight to Cascais.
The Alcântara-Terra train station connecting to the Alcântara-Mar station on the Cascais line is a picturesque half hour or so trip, as the train always stays close to the ocean. While on your journey on the most western point of mainland Europe, check out the well-known beach on this shore, which is Carcavelos. Also see the various defensive forts that are spread along the coastline, the sea bay and the Boca do Inferno cliff.
