The Alto do Duque Fort is located in Parque Florestal de Monsanto, the historical center of Lisbon, Portugal. This is a fascinating area with cobblestone streets, views of the river, and tiny old shops. The Alto do Duque Fort Lisbon is an old structure, built sometime between 1875 and 1890 in an area that belonged to the Duke of Cadaval. The Forte do Bom Su worked with the Alto do Duque Fort Lisbon in order to defend the Tagus River during Monsanto. Lisbon was a fortified camp at this time.
Once the Carnation Revolution was over, Alto do Duque Fort Lisbon was the headquarters for the Operational Command of the continent, also known as COPCON. Today, the Alto do Duque Fort Lisbon is the office headquarters of Strategic Information Defense. It is also known as PIFC.
