Quinta do Scoto Sintra  

Come to the Quinta do Scoto for a genuine experience of Portugal’s beauty and rich heritage. The Sintra bed and breakfast offers modern comforts and conveniences on a 250-year-old Portuguese manor. Lovingly restored by a couple from the U.K., the Quinta do Scoto was built in 1746 and at one time was the property of the Chaplain of the Marquis de Pombal, Portugal's most famous architect; it’s said that in 1777 the Marquis spent his last night before being banished from the country at this house. At the Quinta do Scoto you’ll enjoy a traditional Portuguese breakfast served in the Entrada (Portuguese entrance hall) or dining room, decorated with 18th century wall tiles and antique furniture. The bed and breakfast invites its guests to make use of its large lounge, antique billiard table, library, barbecue area, and the sun terrace and swimming pool in the 3 hectare/7 acre garden. Two horses are available for guests to ride around the grounds of the property. The Quinta do Scoto B&B is located in the village of Melecas, a 20 minute drive from Sintra, 15 km from Lisbon and 80 km from Obidos; all these towns can be accessed from the village train station with a very good, reliable and inexpensive service. Sintra features numerous traditional Portuguese restaurants and has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its 19th century Romantic architecture. Sintra attractions include the Pena National Palace, surrounded by Pena Park; the Castle of the Moors (Castelo dos Mouros), on a high hill overlooking the town; and the Sintra National Palace (Palácio Nacional de Sintra), or Town Palace, in the town itself. The town of Sintra is located within Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. From the Quinta do Scoto it’s less than a 30 minute drive to the Lisbon Sports Club, the Belas Golf and Country Club, or the Penha Longa Hotel and Golf Resort. ‎
