Khamoro
Prague has a number of well-known festivals. There is the Spring Prague International Music Festival. There is also the Autumn Prague Music Festival and the celebrations to Mozart. A less known but interesting festival is the World Roma Festival Khamoro. It is a celebration and explanation of the Roma or Gypsies living in the Czech Republic.

The Roma are a minority living among a majority. This festival attempts to address the lack of understanding that can and does occur between these two peoples. Rather than be didactic, the Festival uses a multi-media approach. It also takes advantage of different disciplines. There are performances of traditional Roma music. There is also a more contemporary music, Gypsy Jazz. You can watch theater and film. There are also lectures and seminars to attend. In fact, the Festival uses a three-prong attack using experts, the media and culture. If this is too overwhelming, or sounds too scholarly, just attend the parade.
