Gura Humorului is a small town situated in the county of Suceava in the northern region of Bukovina in Romania. Until 1918 it was part of the Austro Hungarian Empire. For such a small town, it has a varied ethnic population including a large Jewish community, along with German Bohemians. Unfortunately the town was almost completely destroyed in a fire of 1899. The building costs were donated by the United States Jewish communities. The town enjoys regular public transport links with the nearby larger town of Suceava. This town, in turn, offers regular connections to the capital city Bucharest, with its lively and varied attractions.
