Description
Hotel Esquilino exist since 1920 and it is one of the first hotels in Rome. It's situated in a XIX century palace built by the Aragona family and it was the residence of prince Parini.
Hotel Esquilino is recently renovated and located in the centre of the city, in front of the Scalinata of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the four Roma’s basilicas.
The Hotel is situated in the heart of the “Rome of the Caesar’s”, a short walking distance from the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, but also in the heart of the “Rome of the Popes”, with the Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, the Presidential Palace (Quirinale) and Saint John in Laterano.
The Hotel is also situated at a short distance from the train station - Termini – which offers connections with national and international arrivals of the airport Leonardo da Vinci - Fiumicino -.

How to reach the hotel
From Termini to the Hotel: Arriving from Termini - railway station - take Via Cavour for approx. mt. 500. Surprisingly you’re going to see, at your left, the amazing basilica. The Hotel is in an ancient noble roman building situated in Esquilino's square at number 29 (corner of Via Cavour).
From Fiumicino to Termini: Roma Fiumicino Airport-Leonardo da Vinci FCA has a small 3 track train station from which you can either take the Direct Train to Roma Termini (scheduled every 30 minutes, leaving on the 7th and the 37th minute of every hour from 6:37 to 23:37, tickets are Euro 9,30, and it will take 32 minutes).
From Ciampino to Termini: Roma Ciampino Airport CIA is the closest airport to town, but, having a lesser number of flights landing there, it has no train connection to the centre of Rome. You would have to take the Airport shuttle (about every 30 minutes) to Anagnina, the first stop of the underground Metro line A. Take the underground from Anagnina to Termini.

The location was very good, very close to the roma termini. breakfast was just what you needed to keep you going for the morning. 
The hotel was very difficult to find and we had to ask the tourism information kiosk. by the way we did not find this out until we got there but the air conditioning is not included in the room price and is very steeply priced at €15 a night. we found the owner was too friendly for our liking, and some of the staff did not speak english which made things a little difficult. Location was almost perfect and only a stones throw away from the termini stationReceptionist on arrival was rude and spoke no english which made communiation very difficult. the plumbing in the room allocated to us was faulty - we experienced blockages in the toilet, sink and shower basin. this made our stay uncomfortable and resulted in us checking out late due to having to clear up all the mess.Anonymous

Staff were helpful and spoke english which was a major help to usAlthough the location was great for walking to the main sites in rome, it was on two busy streets and the traffic in rome is constant so most nights we hardly slept as our room backed onto both main roads. they were unable to locate us to a quieter room. we never had the tv, mini fridge or safe as stated on the room requirements either.Kister

Staff was very friendly and helpful. rooms were cleand well every day. location was excellent in the middle of the historical centre.Due to poor communications done by the hotel to easytobook more than 6 months ago, we had to move rooms twice during our stay.
the first room was crappy and absolutely no value for money. everything was broken. it seemed they were renovating the hotel but had forgotten this one room.
breakfast room was only big enough to facilitate 8 persons. pretty small for a 27 room hotel. long waiting queues for the breakfast was the result.
in our last 2 rooms, the showers stayed cold. reason was that the boiler was at the other side of the building. we had to leave the tap open for at least 15 minutes before a shower could be taken.Mrs Sonja Wicks

It was a very good experience to stay at this hotel. it has excellent staff who can advise you with everything regarding any of your enquiries. the location is very good, close to the termini hub, however it is still a bit far away from the shops (via del corso area) - like 20 min walk, but close to monuments and sights. it depends the purpose of the visit of course. i'd call this hotel - "a place to stay", even though it has some minor difficulties.Lack of internet. it is a huge negative expression of the esquilino for me. you can still connect through nearby internet-cafes, but it still will be way more convenient to have connection inside the rooms. also some bathrooms have a room for improvement. To be honest i would not stay in your hotel ever again, we had to single beds pushed together that were not the same size, the shower was held up by sellotape, the television would not work, our curtains were on top on the wardrobe, and we had a hole in the wall and the room smelled. so no i would not reackon i will be putting anyone into that hotelNora Hernandez Salgado
