La Casa di Asa Bed and Breakfast in Rome - Pictures
Description

La Casa di Asa Bed & Breakfast hotel is housed in an attractive villa dated from 1930, situated in a quiet neighbourhood in Rome. The area is well served by public transport and it is just a short ride to the historic centre of Rome.

The B&B is renovated in 2005 and its charm is that it is located in a residential area where one can still breathe the real Roman atmosphere, away form the chaos of the city, surrounded by an oasis of green and tranquillity.

The air-conditioned rooms of the B&B overlook the garden that surrounds the villa; they are all comfortable, welcoming, and charming offering en-suite bathroom facilities.

The price includes all the daily cleaning, the service and breakfast, served in the veranda.

La casa di asa was the perfect place for us to stay. the room was very clean, comfortable, and value for money. we are university students and this was our first trip to rome and while we did have to commute on the train to get into the centre, this turned out to be a good thing. we could never have afforded the hotels in central rome and actually it was nice to be able to walk through the local neighbourhood and see some of rural rome. it took us perhaps an hour in total to walk from la casa di asa to monte mario and then get into rome on the metro. breakfast was lovely. you can choose from a light chocolate or lemon cake, there are little biscuits, cereal, toast, yohgurts, tea and coffee. it's an italian breakfast so don't expect a full english. but overall, a lovely stay and a lovely bed and breakfast.
Sometimes it was difficult to communicate with lina, who is the lady who owns the bed and breakfast. she speaks no english and we had to get by with pidgeon italian and french. but this was ok really. we suggest a basic phrase book. we were given a 'double bed' but it was actually two singles pushed together but, again, we managed.

The location was good and was easy to reach central touristic attractions. mariana, the lady who serves breakfast was friendly.
We were very disappointed with our stay at casa di asa. the service was very poor and the room was not so clean. after three nights we were asked to move into another room so that they can accommodate other people in our room. it was a hassle to communicate with staff as they did not speak english and nadia, the owner, was never there to talk to. we spoke briefly on the phone and she was extremely rude, suggesting that we have no choice other than shifting rooms. note: although not explicitly stated on the website or in correspondence, only cash is accepted for payment which caught out us and others on departure. although we were in our honeymoon, our stay at casa di asa was very stressful.

Well organized and secure
A little bit away from the center, but there are some night bus lines that connect the hotel to the historical center.

Our room was spacious, comfortable and well worth the price. nadia was a gem with information and her english was impecable. she is a delight. her overnight girl is a little spacey and easily confused, + she doesn't speak english. all in all, it was a great experience and we'd stay there again.
Paying our bill the night before was hilarious. we had 5 languages going with 5 people "trying" to get the woman staying there to take our euro's, as we were leaving at 6am the next day. we should have planned with nadia ahead of time, so the fault is 50% ours. it didn't matter as it all turned out fine. but, we will have to keep a watch on our credit card bills in the coming months as we were informed that we had to pay in cash [euro's]. the receipt process was not something the woman caring for the home overnight had done before, so we are still unsure if she did it correctly.

Lovely villa, nice atmosphere, local shops very close by for picking up a bottle of wine...
Our 'double bed' was two singles pushed together, which proved uncomfortable. also, we spoke no italian and found that none of the staff spoke any english so were unable to ask for help on transport/seeing the sights or about anything at all!

Very kind, helpful and relaxed staff. nice garden and rooms of good standard. very good public transportations on weekdays (a bus passes every other minute).
Our first room, nr 10, was in the former garage. it was extremely noisy (passing cars and buses) and also cold. however, when we complained, we got another room in the main building which was very good. the staff didn't seem to mind the extra job - they did what they could to satisfy us. however, even if there were no noise from the outside in the main building, the soundproofing between rooms and to the corridor was very poor. when one of us sneezed, there was a person in the next room saying "salute!" people arriving late to the hotel and talking loud could be quite disturbing. this means that although the location is calm, the hotel is not very suited for people who are easily disturbed by noise. but maybe most hotels aren't. public transportations to the area is poor on sunday evenings. there are more buses than trains, but we never found out where to get information about bus schedules.

We found the staff very good and helpful. hotel is within 10 minutes walk of the train station into rome or catch a bus around the corner 3day and weekly tickets cheap
We were placed in the annex (room 10) which is on the road side and the traffic on a night is loud especially the buses as they run all night. also they are building a shopping mull oppisite which they start work at 07.00am

We loved asa the cat, who's apparently a mascot of the b&b :)
We really missed some hot and meaty breakfast like eggs or bacon, would be lovely to add those to the optional menu.
