The Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere is one of the oldest Basilicas in Rome, constructed most likely around the 3rd century, and then virtually rebuilt in the 12th century by Pope Innocent II. It is located in a characteristic square by the same name, which is surrounded by aristocratic buildings and contains a fountain at its center.
