Moscow has nine major railway stations, running all over the huge city. The oldest one is Leningradsky Rail Station, also known by the name Leningrad Rail Station, has a rich history. Leningrad Rail Station was constructed between the years of 1844 and 1851, and since it’s opening in 1851 it has changed names three times. Originally named after Emperor Nicholas I, it was called Nikolayevsky Station, this lasted until 1924. In 1924, the Bolsheviks named it Oktyabrsky Station in commemoration of the October Revolution.
Then in 1925 it was again renamed to Leningradsky Rail Station, when Petrograd city also became Leningrad. Leningrad station serves the north western area including St. Petersburg. There are even International services from the station which go to Helsinki and Finland.
