A must stop on a trip to see the sights of Russia is the Alexander Nevsky Lavra Monastery. This beautiful Russian monastery was founded in the year 1710 by Peter The Great, in the southern end of the Nevsky Prospect in St. Petersburg, Russia. The monument was erected to house relics of Alexander Nevsky, who was a patron saint of this newly founded Russian capital and a very important part of the history of St. Petersburg.
On the grounds of this wonderful Russian monastery sit two baroque churches; these churches were built in the year 1717-22 and 1742-50 by a father and son team named Trezzini. There is also a majestic cathedral that is surely a sight to behold. When visiting this monastery it is imperative to see all of these amazing Russian churches on its premises, there is certainly no shortage of things to do in St. Petersburg, Russia.
