Varshavsky Rail Terminal used to be a passenger train station, and is also know by the name Warsaw Rail Terminal; the terminal is located in St. Petersburg, Russia. The former train station is now the Museum of Railway Machinery for St. Petersburg. The Museum of Railway Machinery is a must see on any vacationers list of things to do in Russia, it is full of interesting historical artifacts, and much information on railways.
The old station was built originally in the year 1851 and in 1858 started its 143 years of running, back them a branch from the main line that ran all the way to the Prussian border, connected St. Petersburg to other capitals of Europe. Designed by Piotr Salmanovich, the current building is a mixture of historical styles. The station was closed down in the year 2001, and on the tracks the current museum holds well over eighty steam engines along with electrical and diesel locomotives.
