In the central part of Russia, budget hotels in Yekaterinburg run along the Ural Mountain Range. A beautiful town, a great tragedy once occurred here when the Tsar of Russia and his family were executed at the Ipatiev House in 1918. The house has been destroyed and the Church of the Blood now stands on the spot. This church was consecrated in 2003, 85 years after the tragic execution.
Joy and vibrancy abound in Yekaterinburg. It is a goldmine of local arts and culture. The famous Yekaterinburg Theater is home to the Yek Academic Ballet and Opera Company and the Sverdlovsk Academic Theater of Musical Comedy. More than 20 museums can be found along the town's winding roads. Very near the cheap hotels in Yekaterinburg is the Shigar Collection. The Shigar Idol is thought to be the oldest wooden sculpture in the area. In the winter locals and tourists enjoy the yearly Ice Town: a fun park created each year out of ice.
