The Dragon Bridge dates from the late 19th century. It arose out of a Jubilee Celebration – 40-years of rule by Emperor Franz Josef. The opening date of this Art Nouveau structure of originally cast iron, now concrete and steel was 1901. It was a collaborative work with the major architect being the Dalamtian Jurij Zaninovič. This bridge, more popular, than either the Triple Bridge or the Shoemakers or Cobblers’ Bridge, has come to symbolize the city.
