The Triple Bridge (Tromostovje) is another familiar and popular stone bridge stretching over the Ljubljanic River. It spans the water from the Old Town to Prešernov trg. The central span is the original and dates from the early 19th century. On either side of this central construction are two side bridges. These graceful arched additions are the creation of the architect and prolific designer Jože Plečnik. While the original structure dates from 1842, the additions are from 1931. The three together provide an elegant entryway to the Old Town.
