The Slovenian Parliament Buildings date from the 1950s. The buildings structures follow the design of architect Vinko Glanz. Once home to the People’s Assembly, it now houses the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. It is essentially a neo-Classical structure with realist overtones. The interior provides visitors with a history lesson. The wall fresco by Slavko Pengov runs the length of the Great Hall’s vestibule, depicts the story of Slovenia. The exterior façade is of different types of local stone. Two statues by Zdenko Kalin and Karl Putrih stand watch on either side of the main portal. They represent the working class.
