Fittingly enough, the building housing the Museum of Modern Art is in a modern structure. The 1940-1951 Gallery is the work of architect Edo Ravnikar. He was a student of the city’s famous and prolific architect, Jože Plečnik. Plečnik is responsible for many other buildings in the city including St. Florian’s, and Trnvo Church. Jože Plečnik also built the National and University Library, a project on which Ravnikar provided assistance.

The Museum of Modern Art holds several invaluable collections. The focus is on 20th century artists from Slovenia.
