Kwazulu Natal is a province that possesses dramatic scenery that includes some of the best wildlife reserves and beaches in South Africa. Kwazulu Natal is famous as the region of the Zulu warriors, but it also has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park and the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park has over 280 kilometers of coastline and is home to the greatest number of hippopotamus in South Africa. The park also has more than 1000 crocodiles and a wide variety of other fauna and flora. The Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park protects a number of threatened plant and animal species and also has a large concentration of rock paintings made by the San people over 4000 years.
