Benidorm is a town of 67,627, located in the region of Valencia, in Spain. It stands along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and is one of the biggest summer resorts in the country. The city's coast is lined with the silhouettes of luxury high-rise apartment buildings and Benidorm hotels, earning the place the nickname of "Beniyork". Since the 1960's, there have been so many tourists from Great Britain and the Netherlands in Benidorm that one could walk through entire city blocks without hearing Spanish speech.
The city is also famous for hosting the Benidorm International Song Festival, which has launched the career of more than one European pop musician, every summer since 1959. Other attractions are its Terra Mitica amusement park, its Aqualandia waterpark, and its Mundomar theme park focusing on marine life.
