Apartments Ciutat Vella Barcelona

Small rooms with almost no daylight. loud neighbours.

We arrived in the afternoon, so there was nobody there to meet us. this meant that we had a very long trek to collect the keys from princesca.it didn't hlp that we had to lug our bags along with us. it would have been better if the arrangement for picking up the keys was the ciutat vella hotel on tallers which is a lot closer.

It was a bit of a hassle having to go to another hotel to check in and then get over to our hotel. it wasn't very well marked on the door so we walked right by it. it was a real pain on the day of our departure because we had an early train so in order to get our 50 euro deposit back, we had to take a taxi to the other hotel to return our keys.

Although our apartment slept 4, the double sofa bed was really only big enough for two children who got on well (!) - we did struggle a little with sleeping arrangements as our two teenage daughters would not share the sofa bed and it wasn't big enough for my husband and i. felt the apartment accomodated 3 comfortably!

The hot water ran out every day so not enough for 4 people to have a shower. we rang up reception and they did nothing about it. also no member of staff on reception for 2 and half days

Because we arrived in the evening from the uk we had to go to the hotel cuitat vella to book in. this was fine, but the receptionist told us to stay away from a certain area near the apartments at night. whilst this was valuable info and we certainly heeded his advice, it made us worry about the loaction. and because the apartments themselves were in a small back lane, the kids thought we were going to get mugged! (we were offered drugs on the way from the hotel to the apartment!! first impressions of the outside were worrying, but once inside, with the door triple locked, we were fine. i'm not sure it would have been much different anywhere else in the area, but if you're the nervous type, i'm not sure it's for you. our kids are 12 and 14. cetainly wouldn't feel safe with younger kids in this area.

I wish i had known that the apartment did not have a phone, or internet.lack of a smoke detector and emergency evacuation procedures was a little disconcerting.

No electric key when we arrived. had to wait an hour for someone to come with one!

The web site did not clearly state enough information about the location of the aparments so we had a problem finding them when we fiorst got into barcelona

Reception was not manned saturday or sunday during 4 day stay. calls to hotel cost money on mobile and had to wait for assistance on two separate days from hotel - 1 hour wait for on both occassions for a chambermaid to arrive. not what was explained at the time. lift did not work for two days - long climb upstairs to apartment 4 - suited our group but not for the faint hearted
