Aptos gutenberg are just off the ramblas, but in a fairly rough area. pickpockets, prostitutes, drug addicts and transvestites are all in evidence, but we are regular visitors to barcelona and this affects all of the central area wherever you stay. only the pickpockets are a practical problem. they tried unsuccessfully to target us, near the hotel, and the male reception staff rushed out to confront them. staff at the hotel are very friendly anyway, and the hotel is usually our first choice because its close to the ramblas, the seafront, the barrio gotico and montjuic.
