There’s a wonderful selection of Gothic Quarter hotels available on Easytobook.com, and staying here puts you right in the historical heart of Barcelona. Once called the Cathedral Quarter, Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter is home the palaces, temples and walls first built by the Romans. This is the oldest section of the Catalan capital and is where you can find ancient Roman ruins along with well preserved medieval structures. The Gothic Quarter is also home to impressive religious structures such as Santa Maria del Mar, Catedral La Seu and Santa Maria del Pi.
Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter is a wonderful place to enjoy a romantic break with your loved one, and a great place to stay for this type of trip is Hotel Neri. Neri is a romantic 4-star hotel set an 18th century aristocratic house. If you’re keen for a bit of pampering and relaxation, you may prefer to head to Hotel H10 Montcada, which has a solarium, outdoor Jacuzzi and a viewing area on the 9th floor with wonderful views over the city.

It takes approximately 3 hours to walk the Gothic Quarter during the afternoon. An evening may take a little longer, as this area is also the home to some of the best bars and nightlife that Barcelona has to offer. If you begin a walking tour at Placa Nova, you’ll first see Portal del Bisbe. This ancient Roman wall has two large towers on either side and is a good point of reference. A little further along is the Palace Episcopal, or Bishop's Palace, which was constructed at the end of the 12th century. Beyond this are two cathedrals and gothic fountains; you are now entering an even older part of the city, with some buildings dating back to the 1300's.
The Gothic Quarter has a great deal to offer all types of travelers – not just for romantic breaks. You can also find budget hotels here in addition to well-appointed modern accommodation. Hotel Call Barcelona is a very affordable 1-star hotel that can satisfy the tightest of budgets. If you have a little more money to spend on accommodation, try Catalonia Avinyó Barcelona, a modern 3-star hotel with a rooftop terrace from where you can look out onto the city.
