How to reach the Barcelona City Hotel ?By Metro: Passeig de Gracia station (Line 2, Line 3 and Line 4) is the nearest one (20 meters away from Arago´s street exit). Plaça Catalunya station (Line 1, Line 3) is also nearby.
By Bus: Lines 7, 16, 17, 22, 24, 28, 39, 45, B20 and B24 to pass 20 meters away from the hotel. Night Lines N4, N5, N6 and N7 have also an stop some meters away.
By Train: The nearest station, just a few meters away is “Passeig de Gracia”. If your train only stops at Sants´ station, take a local train and get off at Passeig de Gràcia or take subway line 3 and get off in Passeig de Gracia.
The hotel is at the 281 of Aragó street, 2nd floor. Ask for the corner of Passeig de Gràcia with Aragon, then look for the corner with Pau Claris-Aragó (20 meters)/

This hotel is quite close to the heart of the city. for an overnight traveller the rooms are basic but fine.
The hotel itself is tricky to find, google it properly before you go. the rooms are fairly small and the walls thin. Anonymous

Great location, very clean & very cheap for the area.Finding hotel is confusing as it is called universal hotel at the entrance & is in what appears to be an office block. the room was very small & we found out that they had put a double bed into what was meant to be a single room - according to the fire safety plan. large tile missing from bath panel & the room obviously had damp problems & was generally a bit tatty. Not called barcelona city hotel! very hard to find, hidden up 3 flights of stairs. holes in wall pubic hairs in bed, overall not impressed. been to barcelona before and understand small rooms and high prices but room was in bad state. tv not working.rodham

The bathroom was kept clean every day towels were clean. the staff were friendly. for the price we paid the standard was poorI was very dissapointed with the hotel room. there was mould patches on the walls. 2 single beds had been removed but the headbord s were left. we had a king sized base of bed and double sized matress. ther was also a fold-up bed in the road where i got into bed. the air conditioning only worked the first nightAnonymous

Very friendly, english speaking staff, great location of the hotel plus our room and bathroom were very clean. i'd definitely recommend it! It was difficult to find it as the sign on the building says: hotel universal, but once we found it, we had no complaints! Anonymous

V good locationThere was supposed to be someone at reception all night but most nights i and other guests had to wait in the street up 30 mins before we could wake the night porter. it should ba e a hostal (where guests have door keys rather than a hotel)Anonymous

Location was excellent, very central and a walking distance to all the popular sights. a very lively neighbourhood and the restaurant rita next door serves up absolutely delicious non pretentious food which is also a reasonable price. the staff at the hotel were very helpful and efficient however we were waiting outside the hotel for around 10 minutes to be let in as they were having their dinner and wasnt at the reception desk which was slightly frustrating! apart from that our room was clean, wall was slightly damp but the beds were comfortable and the aircon worked a treat in the boiling hot days. definatly would recommend this hotel mainly because of its location, we felt safe there.Reavey
