The Catalonia Albeniz is located close to Gaudi's masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia church, and two important shopping centers, Glories and La Maquinista so you are in a great place to see what Barcelona has to offer. Close to the subway. clean. value for money.- we booked a room in albeniz a day before arrival, however, when we arrived they told us they don't have our reservation, and don't have any free rooms. but they were kind enough to transfer us to the nearby catalonia atenas. (5 min. walk).
- the sound isolation didn't meet the normal level. you could hear basically everything that was happening on the corridor.
- monday morning around 7am the most prob. the cleaning staff started listening to the radio very loud. however, after me banging on the wall a bit they stopped.
- if you want to make sure, book on the hotels website: www dot hoteles-catalonia dot es.
- funny enough, albenis*** is more expensive than atenas****. and upsetting, after the transfer we had to pay the (higher) prices of the original booking.Murray

A very nice hotel, with friendly staff. it is a few miles out of the centre, but this didn't matter as the metro is just over the road, and there are lovely shops nearby. there aren't many places to eat in the area, but a short 10 minute journey on the underground takes you to all the restaurants. rooms were lovely and clean, i would recommend to all!Nogueira

I have nothing negative to say about our stay at catalonia albeniz. it's not all that close to the city centre, but we knew that when we chose the hotel, and it's still walking distance from sagrada familia, and very close to the clòt metro station and to a number of good bakeries and neighbourhood-grocery type of stores. it's definitely a plus if you can at least make yourself understood in spanish to enjoy that aspect of the location, but it's not necessary. all the hotel staff we came across was helpful and friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable enough. i had read some reviews about poor sound insulation, but our room was right next to the lift and facing the main street, and i slept right through all three nights of our stay.Anonymous

Near metro, not very central but close to many locations
good value, nice staff, helpful.
Only one small suggestion, hotel could put shutting mechanism on doors to stairs. one night some 'person' slammed over and over at 4am. not the fault of the hotel but something to slow the stair doors shutting would resolve that.Robinson

Stayed in room where ac was not functioning properly. we were in the extrememly small room for less than 45min and were told we could not change rooms because it had been used. we had to wait 3 hrs for a technician to arrive. room was extremely small. would not recommend this hotelMcKeen

When we went to the hotel to check in they did not have our reservation and told us that they were full. thankfully they provided us with a room at the catalonia aragon which was just down the street. i don't know why they did not have the reservation because we had the confirmation with us?STEADMAN

Hotel albeniz is situated in a lovely residential area within easy reach of the city centre. there are many reasonably priced bars and cafes nearby.
i enjoyed not being disturbed by housekeeping early in the morning as i have experienced in many other hotels.The room we had was quite small and it was a pity there were no other tv channels in english other than sky news. nevertheless, we are now very infomrmed on wordly affairs!Ivar D Kalland
