The hotel could not be more centrally located in the heart of Barcelona. Just a stones throw from the hotel, guests have a wide range of activities to choose from, two are recommended in particular: Take advantage of the great shopping Barcelona offers in the many shops and shopping centres or take a stroll along the Ramblas down to the Columbus monument.
If you have more spare time, you could visit Barcelona's Gothic quarter. Try not to miss the Cathedral, which was finished at the beginning of the 20th century, or the Plaça del Rei, an impressive square admired by the architect Le Corbusier and the sculptor Eduardo Chillida ideal to sit out in and enjoy a drink and some 'tapas'.

Staff were excellent and tried to sort out numerous problems quite quickly.
Front of hotel covered in netting and scaffolding. when we were arrived we were told that two rooms had been booked for us instead of one. our 'double room' turned out to be a twin. we were offered a much smaller room as a replacement. ended up with two single beds just pushed together (bedding not remade as a double) with one of the wall mounted bedside lights 1 foot above the middle of the rhs bed making it unusable. fauly lock on door meaning it did not lock when exiting the room. charged £5 for one night to use the safe in the room (required because the lock didn't work)Anonymous

Great place to stay- sister hotel around corner also very good! great value for your money - very central and easy access to all the culture barcelona is famous for.
Catalonia duques de bergara is so great some tiny ants came to join us on the 7th floor - but they were more interested in our take away than us. the catalonia ramblas was completely bug free and awesome place to stay !!!- Anonymous

The hotel is in an excellent location and having the pool to unwind by after a busy day sight-seeing was wonderful.Problem on arrival of double bookings in my name - one for 2 double rooms at a reduced price, one for one double room at a higher price. this took a full day to sort out and on arrival i was told that i would have to pay the higher price and that the booking confirmation didn't guarantee the price. this was very annoying and time-consuming to sort out, however in the end the hotel honored the lower price booking.Anonymous

The hotel was located in an ideal location close to all the main areas of barcelona with la ramblas within 1 minute walking distance. the hotel staff were also very helpful when we had some problems in the cityAnonymous

As the other reviews have stated, this is located just off placa de catalunya. meaning its a 2 minutes stroll from the ramblas if you go right in the square, or some posh shops if you go left.
the staff were helpful and curtious. the room, while not the largest, was clean and comfortable with 2 large windows that opened onto the street below which provided a balcony area.
this may not be the cheapest or the most stylish recommended on easy to book, (saying that, it certainly isn't too bad)however, the central location more than makes up for it. if your only having a short break, you don't want to be farting around with taxis, buses and metro stops.
my girlfriend and i may well return to barcelona and will certainly look for this hotel again.
a thoughly enjoyable stay with a couple of minor niggles listed below.Breakfast in hotel expensive for what it is (€15)- after looking we eat out each day.
no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
to use the safe there is an additional cost of €4.95 per day for the lock - this is a charge, not a deposit - i've personally never come accross this before, however i begrudingly paid it as i took some expensive camera equipment.

Stayed here in august 2008, location is superb - right in the heart of the city. based at the start of the ramblas, and adjacent to catalunya square (main pick up for bus tours, metro stations etc). and with the biggest shopping mall across the street & the hard rock cafe for dinner, i can't wait to go back. the interior is stunning, red carpetted marble staircase, modern cosmopolitan rooms, and to top it all - a swimming pool (hard to find in such a desired location.)
have been recommending to all my friends and family.Nothing negative to note.Anonymous

The request made for 2 single beds was not met
