Chic & Basic Born Barcelona

The hotel is in a GREAT location and lovely staff but that is the only thing it has going for it. The walls are so thin that you can hear the speed of the hairdryer in the next room, you can hear people talking( arguing). There is a HUGE problem with drains and the smell permeates through the hotel. We had to be moved form out first room. The second room was better but the smell was still in the corridor. Shame because it is a beautiful building.

The room was chic and basic indeed. A little more space was needed for the two of us, with the toilet itself as the only place of privacy. No tea and coffee in the room either, which would have been handy. However, the hotel was always clean and smelling nice. It had a cool interior and was designed chicly. There was plenty of varieties of teas and coffees and water in the communal chill out room. The room was only clean and it was quiet enough at night. the hotel was located in a nice area and was easy to get to from the airport.

This hotel is in a brilliant area near the beach [Barceloneta] , 5minseasy walk from Estacio de Franca [ trainride away from airport with one change in Passeig de Gracia or Sants]. It is also near a gorgeous park--Parc de Ciutadela. It is only about 15 mins from the Ramblas but far enough to be away from all the madness! IWell situated for Picasso Museum. There is a brilliant cocktail bar round the corner from the hotel on Carrer de Rec -24 called JUANRA FALCES formerly known as GIMLETS.It was full of friendly locals. Gimlet [pronounced like gym] cocktail highly recommended. They do a mean G+T too! Found a great bar called BARROC further down on Carrer Rec. Barman looks like Frank Zappa!! They do an amazing glass of sangria--better in a glass than a jug. Hotel room small but adequate. Shower good, shower gel lovely and bed extremely comfortable. Bed is also very big--great for us as my husband is 6ft 4 !! Everything minimal and painted white-lovely.My only criticism would be that the walls could do with a lick of white paint .Other than that hotel was fabulous and we would definitely stay there again. This is the best accommodation we have stayed in whilst in Barcelona as we have been to Barcelona quite a few times.The hotel receptionist was lovely--I think he was calles Raul. Visited CASA BATTLO for the first time---amazing we thought and worth the 18 Euros entrance fee. Barcelona never ceases to surprise us and give us a brilliant time.

Cons: The hotel is self-consciously 'funky'. organised more for looks rather than comfort. view before you commit.

Pros: The hotel is really very nice. i like the atmosphere and the decor very much. the coffee corner area is a nice service as well.
Cons: I find the hotel a bit expensive, so for that price i would have liked a breakfast service included.

Cons: Rooms were small. no in-room safe. balcony was dirty.

Pros: Really quirky hotel. you even get cubba lollypops in your welcome pack. the lighting was fun to play with and the free tea and coffee and water facilities were a big bonus.

Pros: It was fantastic, very easy to access, position in barcelona was fantastic only 10 mins walk to the beach or la rambla. the hotel itself had great facilities with free internet and was a personalised service which we enjoyed very much.

Pros: The decor was indeed chic and unique. we loved that they had help-yourself coffee and water. the location was terrific, and the staff was friendly and very proficient in english.
Cons: We had 3 guests and booked a double with a cot that was advertised as "free" on the website. unfortunately, their definition of a cot is a baby crib (and we found the same elsewhere in spain), and in fact we paid 40eu per night extra on a double room that only cost about 110eu/night to start. so it turned out not to be a bargain. however, they did give us a full-size twin bed as the extra. the website and booking also implied free wifi in the rooms, but it was actually a pay service. there was only one available computer in the common area of the hotel, so it was often in use.
