The studio was very nice with simple but chic decoration, very bright, good view and location- very close to supermarkets, shops- and well provided with everything to prepare breakfast and small meals. The studio was perfectly located for tourists. It is in a core center of Barcelona, close to the Ramblas, market, Gaudi's houses and Sagrada familia (ca. 10-15 min by foot) and at walking distance to the beaches.We were well received at our arrival and the staff was very friendly and arranging.On the down side, being in the center of Barcelona, it was noisy day and night and I would recommend earplugs for the light sleepers! In our flat, the bed was on a mezzanine and the ladder to access it was quite steep. In others flats the beds aren't on mezzanines. The WiFi signal was weak.In summary the positive sides largely exceed the downsides and next time we go to Barcelona we will book with Chic&Basic Apartments again.

Pros: The hotel was in a good location
Cons: Chic - no, basic - very. we may have lucked out and got the second apartment, which had poor light and faced onto a grotty courtyard. tv didn't work, limited kitchen facilities, no kettle. sofa comprised of a broken folding bed which made it inhabitable. bathroom basin have half blocked and took an age to drain. said there was a bath and was not. very disappointing and poor value for money.

Pros: Excellent location within 5 min walk of pl catalunya and with metro station just outside and 2 supermarkets very, very close.
apartments are excellent for having breakfast any time you want and having more space to chill out than a normal hotel room.
Cons: Steep ladder and small hatch to go through to get into bed on mezzanine platform would not be suitable for lots of people and could cause problems - should really be mentioned before booking. even when fit and healthy it was very sore on feet!
having to phone someone in advance to meet you is a bit off-putting, especially when you don't speak the local language and don't know if they will be able to speak your language or not, but in the end it worked out well and leah, who met us, was excellent.
no kettle was a bit odd! had to boil water for tea in a pot. also got caught out by thinking we had an oven as there was something built in under the hob but it turned out to be only a microwave (so not great for the pizza we had bought!)

Chic & Basic Bruc Apartments are located in Bruc street in Eixample district, by the border of the Gothic quarter, one of the city's most historic and charming neighborhoods.
