This Barcelona hotel is located in the Modernista district of Eixample, between Plaça Espanya and Universidad de Barcelona. This position, close to the city centre, is well serviced by public transport and is also equidistant from popular destinations such as Parc de Montjuic, the Gothic Quarter and Passeig de Gràcia, which can be reached via a pleasant walk through the 19th century architecture. Urgell metro station, a five minute walk from the hotel is positioned on line L1 and connects directly to Catalunya and Arc de Triomf, and also links with L2 up to Sagrada Familia.
How you can get to HCC Open
By bus, from Barcelona-El Prat International airport: Take the Aerobus outside the airport and get off at 'Plaça Catalunya'. From here take metro line L1 westbound towards 'Hospital de Bellvitge' and get off two stops later at 'Urgell'. The hotel is a five minute walk from here.

Cons: We had to ask for two extra pillows for the twin room (which were brought immediately) - one pillow each is not really enough. also, a safe with a code the customer creates is safer and more accessible. we assumed there would be a charge if we asked for the key to the locked safe in our room - and then there is always the worry, who else has a key?
Cons: The carpet on the floor was filthy. loo roll holder in bathroom placed behind you. floor not cleaned regularly, dusty areas.
Cons: Room price rather high (no breakfast included), cost of minibar drinks unusually expensive for the category of the hotel, safe charged at extra.
Cons: Location near to all points of interest, but walk from plaça catalunya should not be classed as "within walking distance", as this walk took 20 minutes.
Cons: We booked a triple room and we got a twin room with an additional bed. it was very cramped and the charge for the saturday night at nearly 300 euros was exhorbitant. i may well try the hetel de compte next time as their prices seem a little bit more reasonable

also, on arrival i should have paid for my room, however was not asked for payment. later that night on return to the hotel we were locked out of the room. when we asked at reception we were told it was because the room wasn't paid for !

Cons: The hotel open is seemingly almost entirely aimed at the business traveller & felt not at all suitable for a holiday traveller. i was disappointed as i did not feel this was conveyed on the website and as younger tourists myself and my boyfriend felt very out of place...
for the price, the room size and views are also disappointing.
