Hotel FrontAir Congress Barcelona

Quite a distance from barca. hence the price , but if you do not mind a 30 min bus ride to the city then it is great value for money.

As it is in a somewhat industrial area, there wasn't a lot of shops to visit to spend our idle time.

I am completely unsatisfied with my experience at hotel frontair. i booked this hotel based on a perception that it was near the airport, attractive 4 star room rates, and a comment by a reviewer that the hotel shuttle service to the airport was excellent for early morning flights. the shuttle service does not begin until 6 a.m. and takes at least 20-30 minutes to fill the van prior to departing. this did not accomodate my flight times so i had to pay cab fare of 20 euro to get to the airport. however, the shuttle service was hardly the biggest problem with the hotel frontair. the service is atrocious at hotel frontair. reception was mistaken in confirming the time change (daylight savings time), which resulted in my missing an international flight. the staff was unapologetic and found humor in my troubles, a rather unnecessary stressor to my very costly mistake. the location is not attractive, in a very commercial / industrial center. the rooms were ok. had there not been mosquitos buzzing in the room the entire night, it would have been good. both myself and my travel companion left hotel frontair covered in bites. at best, this is a newly built 2 star hotel. in hindsight, it would have been much more economical, and likely much more pleasant, had i booked a room in the 90 euro range.

The hotel is too far from the city centre.

The location was misleading. the front desk staff were unhelpful. there was no fridge or minibar in room, which was unuseful when staying there for a few days. it was one of the unliked hotels ive been in.

Far from barcelona, the hotel should have shuttle to the nearest train station. hotel charge for everything, breakfast, coffee, use of the spa...price is not only to stay

The restaurent menu was very basic and the hotel bar had no atmosphere what so ever. 7.50 euros for 45 minutes on the internet was a bit harsh as was a 1 euro fee to weigh your bag before you left for the airport. also before we left ireland to fly to barcelona we e-mailed the hotel 1 week before our flight to arrange our shuttle to the hotel. as we left we had no reply and luckily we had brought the telephone no. of the hotel with us as there was no shuttle there when we arrived. after making the call and being at the airport for 1.5 hours the shuttle arrived. when we got home we had received an e-mail from the hotel 2 days after we arrived in barcelona telling us to ring the hotel on arrival at the airport. just a little bit late i would say. also we specified a double room when booking, all we got was a room with two twin beds pushed together.

Location

No complimentary refreshments in the room, no water even. they had machines in the hallway which were expensive. a bottle of water in the room especially when you are arriving late would be a nice touch. location was awkward for the taxi man to locate - well the entrance in particular. that's probably the taxi-man's fault! suited mainly for business travellers or if you have a very early flight the next day.

Spa was ok i expected a bit more also when when we book the early booking offer it said spa included when we got there they said no the spa was not included but just remember to take your booking details i did and showed them it was. double check.

The only negative was the price of the meals was far to expensive in relation to the price of the rooms. i think most people would go out.

Swimming pool was a bit too small and the surroundings (an industrial complex)were quite depressing
