My wife and I were looking for a cheap hotel to stay in for 10 days so we could search for an apartment n Barcelona. We had very low expectations as to what kind of room we would get with the money we had to spend and most of that comes from experience. We were pleasantly surprised to find simple, but clean rooms and a very helpful and friendly hotel staff. The hotel its self was on a safe street just up from a market and located within easy walking distance to Raval, Gotic and Rambla. We felt in no way nervous or threatened while coming home late at night and felt relieved returning to this hotel environment after many long days. Our parents were there for part of our visit and they were not happy with their hotel, that had more stars and cost much more per night. They left that hotel and book into Hotel Gran Ronda and were very happy there. My only complaint and suggestion to anyone thinking of booking a room at this hotel would be to get a room that is not facing on the inside of the central part of the Hotel.....the door bell can get very annoying during the weekend when people are returning at all hours of the night. Other than that it was as close to perfect as you can get.

the gran ronda hotel is a fantastic hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful,the room we had was on the 5th floor (top) which was great.the facilities were great which included a mini fridge which was very useful.2 problems though, the shower head was broken,we told the staff they repaired it within a day,but not properly,but was usable,the staff were very helpful.the second problem ,we knew of this and is why we managed to get a room on the top floor,in reviews it was said you could hear the metro,in the evenings and at night i could not hear any sound to resemble the metro, but come mornings,there was defiantly a rumbling sound which was very loud, but i could only hear this in the mornings, it did not effect me sleeping.overall a fantastic location, fantastic hotel and the staff couldn't do enough for us,they were brilliant.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Good access to metro with many attraction close by, within walking range.Good service. Rooms are small and the air condition in one room (we switched rooms during our stay) was poor.I would return next time.

Very nice hotel, good service, helpful staff, good location and value. If you take the A1 bus to the city centre it's better to get off at placa Universitat rather than Placa Catalunya..

Pros: The room was nice, clean and spacious. in walking distance of everything we required.
Cons: Most of the hotel staff were welcoming, gretting you as they passed or helping you find your way and providing helpful suggestions, however others did not show that same respect. i only found this to be with one member of staff at check-in and check-out who demonstrated a rather authoritive nature.

Pros: The young man on reception was extremely helpful and friendly - please thank him again for going to so much trouble to find us a place to watch the rugby world cup final!
Cons: The lighting was very poor - we had to go into the bathroom to read the map and could not read in bed as the bed lights were so dim. the air conditioning did not work well, so we were too hot
